Free Interview Transcript Cleanerstrip um, uh, repetitions, timestamps

Paste a raw interview or meeting transcript. Get a clean, readable version — filler words gone, word repetitions collapsed, timestamps stripped, speaker labels normalized. Everything happens in your browser — the text never leaves your device.

Clean these

Runs entirely in your browser. The transcript never reaches our servers — no upload, no signup, no rate limit.

How it works

From a raw recording transcript to readable copy in 3 steps.

No upload. No signup. No rate limit. Same workflow whether you’re cleaning a 5-minute podcast clip or a 90-minute UX interview.

  1. 01

    Paste or drop your transcript

Plain text, SRT, or VTT — drag a file or paste into the left column. The raw input stays put.

  2. 02

    Pick what to clean

Six toggles. All on by default. Each toggle re-renders the cleaned column instantly — no submit button, no waiting.

  3. 03

    Copy or download

Copy to clipboard or download as .txt. The cleaned transcript reads like a finished document — ready for a meeting minute, podcast show notes, or a research write-up.

What’s in the box

A cleanup that respects your transcript — no AI rewrites, no surprises.

Every pass is a documented regex. Toggle any of them off and the cleaned column re-renders instantly.

Six cleanup passes

Filler words, word repetitions, timestamps, SRT/VTT cue markers, speaker labels, excess whitespace — each independently toggleable.

Runs in your browser

No upload, no server hop. The transcript never leaves your device. Works offline once the page is open.

Word-count delta

Live stats: words in, words out, percentage removed. See how much fluff the cleanup pulled out in real time.

Plain TXT export

Download the cleaned transcript as plain text or copy straight to clipboard. Drop into Notion, Google Docs, or a PDF.

Built for interviews & meetings

Tuned for spoken-language conventions — speaker labels, hesitations, restart starts, mid-sentence corrections.

Free, no account

No signup, no rate limit, no per-file cap. Use it on 50,000-word transcripts as easily as on a paragraph.

Common questions

8 questions people ask about transcript cleanup.

01What does this tool clean from my transcript?+
Six things, all toggleable: filler words (um, uh, like, you know, sort of, kind of), word repetitions ("I I I want" → "I want"), timestamps in every common format (HH:MM:SS, HH:MM:SS,mmm, bracketed), SRT/VTT cue indices and arrow lines, speaker labels (normalized to one per turn), and excess whitespace. Everything is on by default — uncheck what you want to keep.
02Does my transcript leave my browser?+
No. The cleaner runs entirely in your browser via JavaScript. The text never reaches our servers. Open the page once, then turn off Wi-Fi — it still works. There is no upload, no signup, no rate limit, no cookie tied to your content.
03Does it handle SRT and VTT files?+
Yes. The WEBVTT header, cue index lines, and timestamp arrow lines are recognized and stripped when you tick the SRT/VTT toggle. Drop your .srt or .vtt file directly via the Open file button — it's read locally.
04Will it delete things I didn't ask to remove?+
No. Each cleanup pass is gated by its own toggle. With all toggles off the input passes through unchanged. The filler-word regex is conservative — it matches whole words only (so "um" inside "umbrella" is safe) and never spans punctuation.
05What about non-English filler words?+
The current ruleset is tuned for English (um, uh, er, ah, mm, hmm + phrases like "you know" and "I mean"). For other languages you'll get partial cleanup — timestamps, repetitions, cue markers, and whitespace all language-agnostic, but you'd need to manually edit out localised fillers. Drop us a note at [email protected] with a sample and we'll add a language pack.
06Can I undo a cleanup?+
Yes — the input column stays untouched. Toggling a checkbox off restores that pass instantly (the cleaned column re-renders). For a hard reset, hit Clear in the input header.
07Why "interview" cleaner — does it work for meetings too?+
Yes. The patterns are the same: speaker turns + filler words + timestamps. Interviewers, podcast editors, journalists, qualitative researchers, and meeting note-takers all use this. The name is a search anchor (the phrase "clean interview transcript" has very specific intent), but the tool itself is generic.
08Does it preserve quotation marks and punctuation?+
Yes. The cleaner never touches quotation marks, em-dashes, ellipses, hyphens, or punctuation other than orphan commas/periods left behind after a filler-word removal. Sentence-final punctuation is preserved.
